In her 36 years, Rosmira has been working with butterflies for more than 15 years. She talks about them in a lively way, she names them: the archaeoprepona, the Heraclides, the Morpho, the Caligo. They all live with her. Next to her house she has set up a butterfly garden, which feels like entering a small fantasy world. She has learned how to reproduce them and you can see how she treats them affectionately, talks about the importance of their conservation and her desire to learn more and more about endemic species. She and her parents live in their wooden house, with a beautiful flower garden at the entrance. She says that her mother sometimes helps her with the butterfly garden and that it was also her mother who taught her to sew. Because when Rosmira is not among butterflies, her hands are among fabrics.
Her hands know how to take care of the details, that’s why she is a wonderful dressmaker. She is also a farmer. She grows yacon, tomato, cucumber, parsley, onion and cocoa and, from time to time, she sells them. From butterflies to fabrics and from there to the garden, Rosmira’s joyful and powerful spirit moves.
A woman with exceptional strength, great humor and a presence that is hard to ignore.
Rosmira receives tourists at her home to show them the butterfly farm and has thought of offering lodging for which she still needs to make several adjustments. Sharing with her in her home would surely be an experience full of good laughs and warm conversations.
